Good Morning!!!

What?? Not a good morning?

Feeling- - - Lost?

Running out of steam??

Nothing ever seems to go your way??

No one understands you at all??

Yesterday was horrible? Everyone is yelling?

The economy is rotten?? You're broke??

You have way too many bills and not enough food to go around, and the kids wont be quiet and everyone expects you to fix everything for them? You work and work and never get ahead?

STOP STOP STOP …....B R E A T H E.....LISTEN...................

How can we ever expect to hear what God is trying to say to us if we can't be still?

Maybe that's the reason the Lord called Samuel so many times..What do you think?

Here's the story....

1 Samuel 3 ( You may want to read the text on your own as I am giving a quick version)..

The story tells about Samuel's first prophecy.

Samuel was just nearing sleep when he heard someone call his name.. “Samuel”.. and he answered, “ Here I am”.. So he ran to Eli and said, “Here I am , for you called me.”

Eli told him, “ I did not call ; lie down again”

Again Samuel heard his name called,, and again he ran to Eli.. Who sent him back to bed...

Now the third time the Lord called Samuel,, Eli- who noticed there was something going on, perceived that Samuel had been hearing the Lord .. So he sent Samuel back to bed – this time with instruction.....

Eli told Samuel , when he hears the voice call him again, to say, “Speak Lord, for your servant hears”...

And once the Lord knew Samuel had realized it was him, he proceeded to share the prophecy..( I will hope that you read on your own the story in its entirety)..

How many times do we think we hear God calling us, but continue in our routines?

Or maybe we just find it hard to believe that the Almighty would talk directly to us?

I am sure this first prophecy was a surprise to Samuel.. But certainly a life changer.

This passage inspires me to listen for that still small voice.. The call of the Lord.

Samuel didnt have the holy spirirt to guide and counsel.. How much more now- can we listen?

I find this to be one of my favorite passages because it shows how much we are loved by our heavenly father.. That even when our minds are not clearly focused, He draws us to him by the love and faith of others in our lives..

If we are able to focus on him... We can hear the peace..

If we can listen for his voice... We can know our answers..

And if we can quiet the loud distractions that life brings... We can know God..

It is my prayer for you today that God would make clear his calling to you- when you humbly and intentionally seek his voice.

I would love for you to share your thoughts on this and what this passage means to you...

Feel free to Send me a message on the email prayer request line or on facebook...

In His Amazing Love and Justifying Grace..

Rev. Lily
