As we get closer to Thanksgiving and Christmas and all of the fun family events, it is so important to remember why we celebrate and to whom we are giving thanks.
There is a song I love to remember at this time of year that was taught to me at a church gathering years ago. We would all get together ( there were about 40 of us in one room) and we would pray together and sing the song as if it were written right from our hearts to express just what we needed to say. It was a song that turned into our every meal prayer as my children were growing up. One day I hope that our Church family will learn it too. But for now- Here are the words that it may be your prayer also...

GRATEFUL FOR A SUNNY DAY, GRATEFUL FOR THE SKY OF BLUE
GRATEFUL FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, GRATEFUL FOR ME-AND GRATEFUL FOR YOU
GRATEFUL FOR THE TREES THAT ARE PLANTED, GRATEFUL FOR THE FLOWER BLOOM
BRATEFUL FOR THE LOVE WE SHARE, GRATEFUL FOR THE SPACIOUS ROOM
THERE ARE SO MANY THINGS TO BE GRATEFUL FOR- MORE THAN WE EVER REALLY KNOW
BUT WE TOO REMEMBER IT'S FROM OUR GOD, FROM WHOM WE NEED OUR LOVE FLOW
IT'S BECAUSE OF OUR HEAVENLY FATHER-WE HAVE THE GIFT OF LOVE
AND ALL THE THINGS TO BE GRATEFUL FOR-COME FROM HIM UP ABOVE
SO IF YOU EVER ARE IN DOUBT BY THE GIFTS THAT YOU'VE OBTAINED
JUST ALWAYS REMEMBER- BECAUSE OF GOD-
OUR LIVES ARE COMPLETE-IN JESUS-NAME.

MISSIONS - MISSIONS : WITH MISSIONS-GOD MAKES THE IMPOSSIBLE-POSSIBLE!
As we near the end of 2016- it is time to focus our hearts and offerings toward the help that is needed in our world. We are taught to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, care for the poor, and help others who are not as fortunate as we are. We are also taught to love our neighbor as our self and that the care of God's creatures was put in the care of man. Let us determine in our minds what we are able to give so that through our gifts- others may know the love of Christ who freely gives to those who ask.
We will continue in our support for: THE BEYOND HOMELESS WOMENS SHELTER and for the needed care of animals through PATRICIA PIERCE.

IT WOULD BE GIFT THAT WE CAN ALL ENJOY. YOU MAY ALSO BRING VEGETABLE PLANTS FOR OUR GARDEN-AS IT CAN BE USED FOR OUR CHURCH FAMILY AS A COMMUNITY SHARED GARDEN THAT I AM HAPPY TO MAINTAIN! VOLUNTEERS FOR WEEDING AND HELPING ARE ALWAYS WELCOME! IT COULD TURN INTO A GREAT PROJECT FOR KIDS TOO..

Reflections from Rev. Lily:
As I look back on the past few years of my walk with God, I am struck by how different my way of thinking is. I have a different view, from a changing heart. A heart with one great desire-and that is to please my God in the way I think, pray, preach, serve, and live out my daily walk. In ALL areas of my life- I desire to serve the Lord. Do I always succeed? No way.. But I always reach back up for His hand and the guidance of His Holy Spirit.. You see- I am not the same person I was a week ago or a year ago- God continues to not only change me from the inside out-, He allows me in his loving grace- to realize the changes as he equips me for such a time as this. But the real joy comes during the times when I determine my focus on spending time in His word. And if I can offer any advice about reading the Living word of God-it is this: Don't haphazardly plant a finger on a page and read it. Be focused in prayer, talk to God about what is on your heart, and search in His word for the answers you seek. Ask in prayer for illumination-just like we do in worship, so that you can be led by His Holy Spirit to the answers in His Word.. and if you don't find the answers- pray again and share with a friend in the journey. Matthew 18:20 says- For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them....May your relationship with Our Loving Heavenly Father grow more every day.
