Welcome to Holy Week!

Whether this is the first time you are learning about what Holy Week means to Christians, or if

you are looking for a good reminder to help you in your faith journey with the Lord during this time;

This day by day overview can help you get started.

But to really experience this week- the best we can, I suggest we start in prayer that God would lead us

in our understanding of these events so long ago and how we can learn from them, so we can apply them to our lives here and now...

Suggested prayer: Father God, come near us.. You- who have sacrificed your son and conquered death to redeem us from our sins- We pray that during this holy time- as we reflect on what you have done for us in the reading of your Living Word- that you would help us to understand what it means for us right now. Grant Lord- that we will draw closer to you , as we seek the guidance of the Counselor you gave us- Your Holy Spirit, and lead us through this week as we journey with you each day.

In your Holy and Precious name we pray........Amen.

Holy Week begins on Palm Sunday and continues each day before Resurrection Sunday( Easter).

Here is the suggested reading for each of the days. May God bless you and reveal himself to you- in the reading of His Word..

Palm Sunday- (Matthew 21:1-11)- Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey while the crowd layed down their cloaks and palm branches on his path. They sang Hosannah! Hosanna in the Highest! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!

Holy Monday- (Matthew 21:12-17) and Matthew 21:18-22)- Jesus drove the money changers out of the temple. They had made His house of prayer- a den of theives. Parable of the fig tree explained. Jesus cursed the fig tree for not having figs-only leaves.

Holy Tuesday-(Matthew 21:28 to Matthew 25:46)- Jesus taught from dawn to dusk. Parable of the talents, Jesus' authority was questioned, Parable of the two sons, Parable of the wicked Vinedressers,Parable of the wedding feast, and more.He gave warnings and woes.

Holy Wednesday-( also called spy wednesday)- (Matthew 26:6-13)- The day Judas agrees to betray Jesus for 30 pieces of silver( the going rate for a slave at that time). Also the day a woman anoints Jesus feet with expensive perfume from her alabaster flask.

Maundy Thursday- (Matthew 26:17-75)- Jesus Institutes the Last Supper.

Good Friday- (Matthew 26:47 to Matthew 27:26) The arrest, trial, crucifixion, death and burial of Jesus Christ all took place on Good Friday.

Holy Saturday- Jesus descended into Hell and set the captives free.. Apostles Creed-(Matthew 27:62-66)

Ressurection Sunday- EASTER-HE AROSE FRO THE DEAD early in the morning. HE IS RISEN! (Matthew 28:11-15)

I hope you have enjoyed this day by day Jourey with God... But if you still have questions- feel free to dive in and read the whole book of Matthew- praying for the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Of course, you can send me a message through this site also if you like.

Grace and Peace be yours.........Rev. Lily.
