November 27th- First Sunday in Advent- purple
The word Advent- comes from the Latin word (adventus)- meaning coming or visit. This season of advent begins four Sundays before Christmas and ends on Christmas Eve. Advent it the beginning of the Christian Liturgical Year. (Liturgy)- means the forms and functions of public worship. During Advent- we prepare for, and anticipate, the coming of Christ. We light a candle in the advent wreath each Sunday awaiting Christmas. I will light one in the chapel. You may want to light one in your homes.

January 6th- Epiphany- The manifestation of Christ to the Gentiles as represented by the Magi-

Advent and Lent are periods of preparation and repentance and are represented with the color (PURPLE).

LENT is March 1 to April 13
Lent is a season of self reflection, and of re establishing our commitment to God . It is a time to pray and truly focus on our relationship with our Lord and Savior. Many choose fasting , setting apart special devotional time, bible time and prayer during this time.
Please add our church groups and myself in your prayers as we focus on what GOD is calling for our church to do. Fasting is not necessarily from food- but of things that take up more of our time. Time we should be giving to God instead. So we remove that thing that interrupts and replace it with sincere dedicated time with our Heavenly Father. Please consider these as options for this time.
March 1- Ash Wednesday- ( I will be available in the Prayer chapel from Noon til 2pm to give communion and ashes ).
(black and purple colors for the chapel)
March 12- Purim is celebrated- This is a Jewish holiday commemorating the saving of the Jews from Haman who was planning to kill all the Jews. ( This event is recorded in the book of Esther). This is celebrated with gift exchange of food and drink, donating to charity).. I suggest this as a good time to offer your services to others in your community! Be Christ to others.

APRIL 2017
PALM SUNDAY:
Saturday-April 8th- Terre Haute group- we will have a Palm Sunday service at 2:00 this day.
Sunday- April 9th- (Palm Sunday)- Greencastle group- we will have a service at 2:00
Tuesday-April 10th -Passover begins.
Passover is from Monday April 10th to Tuesday April 18th
Passover celebrates the deliverance by God of the Israelites from Slavery in Egypt and their freedom as a nation under the leadership of Moses. The story of Exodus is read during the celebration.

Thursday April 13th- Maundy Thursday-( Holy Thursday)-
This day commemorates Jesus Christ's Last Supper and the initiation of Holy Communion ( the Eucharist). (WHITE)
Friday April 14th- Good Friday- Jesus was crucified, died, buried in a tomb. There is no color for the chapel on this day.(PARAMENTS ARE REMOVED FROM THE CHAPEL)
Saturday April 15th- Holy Saturday- Marks the day Jesus' body lay in the tomb and the Harrowing of Hell.. Jesus is the propitiation for us. ( Read the Apostles Creed.)This day is also a day of remembrance for Jesus' Mother Mary- in the day of grief for her son. No Paraments
Sunday- April 16th- EASTER SUNDAY SERVICES! HE IS RISEN!

focus on the season of Pentecost .

June 11th- TRINITY SUNDAY- Greencastle. Trinity Sunday is the first Sunday after Pentecost. Remember and honor the belief of an eternal God, consisting of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This is the only major Christian Festival that celebrates the Christian doctrine of the church rather than an event in its sacred history.
